Morning all.
I have recently registered as self employed [1/5/12] and then this morning get a letter from the tax office telling me I need to fill in a self assessment form! I personally don't see a lot of point in that after just two weeks lol
Are they just pre-warning me that this is a thing I will have to do in the future? [end of tax year] The letter states that the forms are to follow.

I do/will have an accountant but have yet to meet him yet as I am considered non-urgent.

They were probably ust informing you that an SA is necessary from now on. Come next April you will need to fill in the form for this tax year (6/4/12 - 5/4/13). Then as Canary says you get about 9 months in which to file it, having said that we have found that it is better to file as soon as possible after 6 April - it gets it out of the way
