Anyone got any ideas on how to celebrate this. Need to think of something a bit different to suit ages over 60

How about a fun quiz dealing related to what was happening sixty years ago?
Make a big pot of tea and a plate of cucumber sarnies and sit in front of the TV> then put all the money you have saved into a worthwhile charity.
A 60's style tea dance? Maybe get a band to play live?

A quiz is a great idea!

Maybe making some kind of time capsule to mark the Jubilee of people who were there at the time, their personal stories and photos.
please don't make us over 60's look to be old doddery sods.a suggestion, lets have something energetic, like doing jigsaws, and real food, like fish cakes and mash that has been through a blender 6 times. I will be gardening, creosoting the fences, running my 91 year old mother to B&q so she can select some plants to put in her window boxes, then we will all sit in our garden and have a meal and enjoy the day, weather permitting. I'm 66, still working self employed and would be very, very upset if someone invited me to an over 60's do.
make it an over 80's and ask me in 20 years.
Percy..
lol percy...they seem to think as you get older you are not capable of doing ANYTHING..im 52 this year and i dread getting to my 60s for fear of people thinking im past it...i keep myself fit..i go to the gym 4 times a week, cycle 10 miles a day..[in the summer lol]...and play squash id like to think that i am still reasonably fit and healthy and i hope to carry this regime on until im advised not to... or when im 60 and ready for the knackers yard or the nearest old folks home according to some folk...
I worked at a Day Centre for elderly people and believe me, some of them really were on their last legs. They could only just cope in their own homes and the day centre's midday meal was possibly the only decent meal they got.
The pubs round here are busy most lunch times doing pensioners specials, all seem to enjoy lit, keep it simple
I prepared a royalty quiz for our ladies group last week- most are over 60. If you are interested I can give some ideas on the questions I asked. They enjoyed it (well they appeared to! LOL :)
