Spiro Test

I filled in a survey form at the docs a few weeks ago re smoking (I've not smoked for 37 years) and as a result have been asked to go back for a spiro test.
Anyone know what this involves please? The receptionist who phoned to make the appointment half hour ago didn't know.

I ts just another thing that the doctor can claim for,howelse can they run their beamers and 4X4s.

Spirometry isn't used just for smokers/ex smokers. It can be a good indicator of any disease process of the lungs. I have them regularly because of my lung disease, but if I didn't and was offered one I would get it done... it's free and very easy to do so why not? :)

I have to say i disagree as it is not diagnostic of any lung disease process.

Now that is the great value of spirometry.....it monitors the change of a disease and the effectiveness of treatment.
