I was watching Big Brother last night, and was horrified at the way the 'house mates' were ignoring the new Guy, (sorry not sure of his name). I cannot believe that they can be so rude. Maybe it was just the editing, but surely the footage of him in the English house is going to be aired in South Africa, and to be quite frank I am embarassed to think that we are that aloof. Is it just me or did anyone else feel the same.

Although I am loath to admit that I was watching in the first place, I do agree with you! Did you notice at one point when they were in the garden that Tania muttered a rather unfriendly expletive under her breath? I doubt I would be able to get away with quoting what she actually said, but I did think that they were all being rather rude to him. Lets just hope that none of them ever consider joining the diplomatic services!
The new blokes name is Gae, pronounced Guy. On arrival he explained 'shower hour'. All housemates have a shower together in the nude. The shower is bigger but the African house is smaller. In the other house the bedrooms are not segragated.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was somewhat ashamed of their behaviour. His body language and everything seemed so uncomfortable. And yes I am also loathe to admit I watch it, only very occasionally, thus why I didn't know the poor guy's name. Thanks Football for that! :-)
I agree with you both.I think Tanya was horrible the way she keeps being nice to him & then muttering under her breath she could at least have the decency to tell him to his face as he did to her.Its a shame these people are representing us he must think we are all uptight & miserable like them.Surely even if they do not like him they could respect the fact that he is in a strange country and doesn't know any of them.Housemates in South Africa have been really nice to Cameron as well. Perhaps they all need teaching some manners.!
Could be something to do with the fact that he called her a pig the first nite he was there.....
Surely Comloulou that is no worse than Scott calling her a gannet! She didn't take umbradge to that.
Ooops, can't type to save my life!
I think it was more that he wouldnt let it go and dug himself into a hole by going on about her eating too much and calling her piggy etc. Not a good way to get your new housemates on-side. I dont particularly like any of them to be honest and lets face it, the South African house has had fist fights and death threats so theyre not much better!!! ; )
Yes he called her a pig to her face & he said it,in jest he was laughing as he said it & said after he was joking & apologised but she still choose to go to the bedroom and cry like a baby saying "being called things like that can make you ill".she's obv had a hard life (not). She was always getting stick of Fed & Ray but never reacted the way she did.If she has a problem at least say it to his face like he did her.Apart from Nush they have all be rude.Steph has jsut spent the whole time winging she didn't get to say bye to Cameron! So what! They should all enjoy the whole experience its a once in alifetime chance.
i used to work with an african guy, he was about 6 foot eight and a very powerful build, his accent was hard (for want of a better word), he looked directly at you when he spoke to you and when you spoke to him and he always got straight to the point in any issue. (i get the impression gaetano is much the same). It never failed to amaze me how many poeple described K as 'really aggressive', or 'rude' or 'insensitive', when if you listened to the actual words he was saying he was very considerate and funny and had a great deal of compassion and empathy. i think tania's reaction arises out of the instincts a british upbringing has instilled into her rather than any aspects of gaetano himself and i'm sure that in a less pressured environment with more time, they all could enjoy his company alot more. but thats what big brother is all about, provoking reactions and showing how much we act on subconscious instincts rather than hard evidence. ( i dont think it is beyond anyone to see the funny side of being called a pig, there are so many funny replies she could have made).

That's an excellent point Treacle and more than likely that's the problem, they are not quite sure how to take him, but I just can;t help but think if it was me in there, I would have gone out of my way to make him feel welcome. Watched it last night though and they seemed to be much warmer towards him. As for Tanya, I think she was a bad choice for the house, purely because she is very self-conscious if you listen to her talking to BB and watch her body language it seems quite obvious. She's the type who will find it very hard when she leaves and reads all the c**p the papers are gonna write about her.
