i used to work with an african guy, he was about 6 foot eight and a very powerful build, his accent was hard (for want of a better word), he looked directly at you when he spoke to you and when you spoke to him and he always got straight to the point in any issue. (i get the impression gaetano is much the same). It never failed to amaze me how many poeple described K as 'really aggressive', or 'rude' or 'insensitive', when if you listened to the actual words he was saying he was very considerate and funny and had a great deal of compassion and empathy. i think tania's reaction arises out of the instincts a british upbringing has instilled into her rather than any aspects of gaetano himself and i'm sure that in a less pressured environment with more time, they all could enjoy his company alot more. but thats what big brother is all about, provoking reactions and showing how much we act on subconscious instincts rather than hard evidence. ( i dont think it is beyond anyone to see the funny side of being called a pig, there are so many funny replies she could have made).
