I'm doing my best not to get paranoid here.... I know I can be technologically stupid at times, but until recently I have at least had answers to my questions, even though sometimes I think I have (understandably) detected a note of 'oh heavens, here she goes again' in some of the responses. But my last two queries have obtained no relevant replies; sorry, I don't know how to post the link, but one was at 07.10 on Friday 11th May in the Internet section and entitled 'problem with Chrome', and the other yesterday at 18.51 in Computers, entitled 'Desktop display'. (The first did have some answers eventually, but no solutions, and one poster even reported the same problem).
I think I've always been polite, and have tried always to thank everyone for their answers in the past. So I don't know what I'm doing wrong.... is it just sheer coincidence (I can't think that no-one has an answer), or are you trying to tell me gently to go away and play?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Desktop display: The reason that your wall paper had a margin to the left and right, was that the wallpaper image was narrow than the desktop, and you had elected to centre rather than tile or stretch it. If you are now using a wallpaper image that is the same width as your display, or you have elected to stretch it, then there will be no margin.
Can't help with you orange problem, as I don't have an orange account.

Oh right....I thought I remembered having access to a screen that allowed me to choose whether I had margins or not. It doesn't really matter, particularly as the current photo is fairly clear to right and left.
The other problem I didn't think was particularly to do with Orange - just wondered whether there is something I need to do on Chrome in order to make the site secure.
Thanks for your help, Rojash.

You can test that Chrome is working properly with secure sites by going to
https://www.fortify.net/sslcheck.html
The padlock should be green and you should also get a warning that the page includes insecure content.
If it behaves as expected, then the problem you are seeing with Orange is probably their fault and a result of Chrome reporting the situation more accurately than IE.
