private accident insurance policy..
..Recently I was hospitalised (spinal surgery) for 4 nights for which this policy paid out.In their letter they said my policy also covered me for convalescence and to claim, all I had to do was to submit my doctor's 'sick note '.This was at the rate of £40 a day...great I thought I'm off work for 11 weeks thats 77x40=£3080 for the next two months I occupied my time on the internet researching eg. a new washing machine,holiday destinations,tv,deposit on a car and others.
After 11 weeks I submitted my 'sick note.' two days later in a phone call I was told that my policy did NOT cover convalescence and I would get nothing.I formally complained and my complaint entered their procedure.
I received a letter today with their findings...I quote..'In our letter of xxxxx we originally advised that you were entitled to a convalescence benefit..we also confirm that for your present claim a convalescence benefit would apply.
And finally... 'on the basis of the above I would like to offer you £100 monetary compensation as fair redress for any undue distress caused by our errors.....
£100..... they couldn't take a corporate client out to lunch for that.
Should I say thanks and take it or proceed further!!!!!!!
