Evening all. I have a 1.25kg parcel to post Down Under and all I can find is ridiculous quotes for nearly £100.
Can anyone recommend a cheap way to send it please?

I think I agree with you Hopkirk
Mrs. O, I have worked in air freight.

Be afraid.

Be very afraid.
I had a large thing to sent to Oz - I sent it surface, there are not only weight restrictions but also size restrictions of air mail. It took 8 weeks to get there, so you need to warn your buyer!

However - is it the size which is making your package expensive? My PO postage chart says packages up to 1300 kg would be £18.50 to Zone 2 worldwide?
^^ make that 1300g = 1.3kg

I've just found an air mail service for £39.99. I'll quote her that (plus packaging, petrol etc) and hope she backs out
There are certain things which I now only offer to UK buyers because of packaging costs.
<<be afraid, be very afraid>> I sent a Carlton Ware breakfast set to NSW via the PO. No problem at all. Well bubblewrapped and boxed in a PO box. I can`t remember what it cost but it was about £20. It must have been surface mail. I know it was definitely cheaper than I thought because I re-imbursed the buyer some of the transportation costs.
Recently took parcel to Post Office and, providing weight is below 2Kg then the cost is not excessive.
Always mark it "Small Packet" comes out at half the price.
