Getting rid of my first car, a '66 MGB roadster, Old English Pale Ivory, black soft top, chromed bumpers and wire wheels the full monty. I loved that car it's still the only car I've had that I enjoyed cleaning, but I was young and in love and I let the bitch queen I married persuade me it wasn't a suitable car if we were going for a family.

For me it was a Lambretta SX 200 with full mirrors,lights,chrome roll bars and swishing 6ft radio aeriel with Union Jack applied Parka with fur lined hood,tinted goggles and gauntlet gloves...... Oh how we loved our encounters with the rockers outside the coffee bar in Chaple Ash, Wolverhampton circa 1964.

In truth Janz the mods were a little more upmarket, and tidier and better off, to be able to afford the Vespas. But rockers were exciting. My mum would have had a fit if I'd taken one home, quiff fingertip jacket and beetlecrushers. Those were the days.
