There are plans for the Royal Mail to be able to leave parcels, mail with a neighbour if you are out, instead of the card they sometimes leave. I wouldn't be particularly happy with that at all considering most of the neighbours are either out at work, or away. If a parcel goes missing, or is damaged, who is responsible.

I am totally against any deliverer leaving my goods at ANY OTHER address.

I will quite happily collect from local depot.

true, but the point is they can now, or so it appears, be able to leave it with a neighbour.
we do it all the time where I live ,in the middle of nowhere and a 30min drive to the post office.
I took something in for my neighbour just today. We've always done it; never had a problem.
I'd prefer it. It's a pain in the arse going to the sorting office. If I want it left somewhere specific when I know I won't be in then I leave a note on the door and put at the bottom 'please remove note once delivred'. That's only ever not worked with yodel. But they are a different story.
wouldn't take any package from any of my neighbors, dont want to be in possession of controlled substances
we seem to get loads for the whole street lol, and others get ours already!

our postie can't read i am sure. They give me next doors mails, and who knows where mine end up.
We live in a rural area and had a mail box, but we took it down as it seemed to much of a temptation even out here. Instead postie leaves the parcel in the shed and sticks a note through the door if we're out.

I'm lucky I know, but they do have many more parcels to deliver and I think they're only trying to be helpful by suggesting they leave them next door. Consequence of the internet shopping boom. If you work you could think about having parcels delivered there; again that suits some and not others.
its the norm where we live to take in parcels for neighbours always has been for the last 20 years I have lived here.
There's usually someone at home, and our neighbours are online shoppers - we stick a post-it in the window, so they can collect!

We hold keys to 2 neighbours' houses, and have the alarm combinations.
