Highlights from tonights email:

We drove an hour to a park specialising in monkeys. A particularly hawk eyed pupil within minutes said " Sir,Miss, why is that monkeys face so different?". " Its different because you're looking at it's bottom!"

Miss White is sulking tonight following a knock back from a monkey who refused to take popcorn from her.

Some of the boys got extremely embarrassed when one frisky monkey decided to play pinball in front of them - I've never seen boys get their camera's out so quickly!

At the waterpark ,for a small charge they could use a jacuzzi. A few ladstook the chance to live the high life for an hour and imagine they were Hugh Hefner!

On way back to camp we stopped at a few shops- there were a few surprise purchases, the buggest being 50kg of fish bait!! Am glad to see the boys are spending their money wisely!

At Carrefour Georgie bought 2 dozen croissants fpr 2 Euros, then it was pointed out that they serve them every day at breakfast for free,an the sell by date is tomorrow. Good luck with that Georgie, bedtime is ten o'clock!

In the early 90s I used to take year 7 pupils to France, who had only been learning the language for 8 months, so were not really able to communicate in French. I had one boy who was so keen and anxious to please all the time (think Bambi and those big brown eyes). One morning I allowed them a short walk round the village on their own. When they returned he was in tears and I couldn't get a word out of him. I asked the other boys what had happened and they told me that he had been going up to French people he passed and saying Hello, and they had all shouted back at him and threatened him. When I eventually pacified the boy and managed to get a word out of him it transpired that he had mangled the French word Salut with the English word Hello so it came out sounding like Salaud, which is a general term of abuse (bastard &c). Once I'd explained the tears dried up.
I went on a school trip to Paris, when was 14,went down with Chickpox the day after we got there, not too popular as 1 of the 'minders'went down with shingles after we got home!
