Can stoppage time be added within stoppage time?

If a soccer match has for example three extra minutes of stoppage time added at the end of the 90 minutes and then something happens in the 91st minute which takes three minutes to resolve, will that time be added onto the stoppage time or will the match end in the 93rd minute no matter what?

Logic dictates that the extra time will be added on otherwise the incentive is there for the leading team to delay process until the final whistle.

The stoppage time is for time lost in the 90 minutes. Therefore any time lost in the stoppage time extends the stoppage time by that amount. Referees use their discretion anyway, because players are inclined to waste time in stopage time, and let the game run beyond the time allotted for stoppage time.

Yes, when they announce 3 minutes the commentators always refer to it as a minimum of 3 mins

of course there is the alternative version known to commentators a FErgie time which is directly equal to the time required for man united to equalise if losing or win if tied... or at least for reasonable opportunies to be created e.g free kick on the edge of the area...

Although rather annoyingly when a player is substituted in stoppage time it is rarely added on.

Last night there were 3 minutes of stoppage time in Germany v Holland.

Germany made a substitution in stoppage time and it took at least 30 seconds, but no time was added on.

p.s. If I could change one rule in football it would be NO substitions at all after 85 minutes, even if there is an injury. Too many teams waste time by making substitutions in the last few minutes or in injury time.

or no allowance for substitutions as the use of substitutes is prt of the game let them hold up the board and make the change in live paly rather than waiting for the ball to go dead might make them get a b move on...

Yes it will be added on in most cases, but managers do know this but making substitutions to waste time is not so... they do it to slow the tempo of the game.

I do like VHG' idea of no subs after 85 mins... it would certainly stop the whingers about 'Fergie time'

Yes it is. Even today with the Croation/Italy match another 40 secs was added on to stoppage time because of the feigned injuries by a Croation player.
