This story comes up, Child mauled by a DOG / Pit Bull etc, I agree that the dog only reflect what the owner or some owners are like, the sensible owner corrects his /her dog and the the dogs behaviour, but you have seen the likes of the clever @rsed hoodies that think they are big men behind the Pit Bull & their hood, I'm in the opinion that all these so-called dangerous known dogs, if out in the public area should have a muzzle on, more than likely people will disagree on this, but what is the better of two evils?

I think all dogs should be on a lead and muzzled in public. It would be impossible to administer but it would be excellent if dogs were only allowed off leads in open spaces if the owner had some sort of licence that proves the dog immediately reacts properly to recall.
Having seen some of the owners, I am of the opinion both the dogs and the owners should be muzzled in public
better still sealed in some sort of chastity belt so they can't breed
Rowan, no need to go to that expense. Just pass me two housebricks...
I love dogs and think that children and dogs (supervised) are great play mates.

Alas, as you say, it is the moron breeding dogs to be fierce and dangerous that we have a problem with. They have turned a brilliant little dog, the Staffie, into a dog with a bad reputation.

In Ireland there is a case of a dog called Lennox. He is a 'pit bull type' dog and is illegal, but he has not attacked or bitten anyone. He is to be put to sleep for who he is and what he might do - http://www.savelennox.co.uk/

There is no easy solution to the problem of idiots with dangerous dogs - maybe just euthanising the idiots would be a good starting point. :-)
A controlled test of the theory there are no bad dogs only bad owners Eradicate all the bad owners ....
rowan - sounds good to me.

I saw a guy in town yesterday who had three bull-mastiffs on a lead. Beautifully controlled and huge hounds. Neither of my two dogs were very well behaved. The first one didn't even know that he was a dog.
Bloke near my old house had 5 english bull terriers all but one would walk from his house to the park off the lead,,, they didn't go for other dogs or chase Tinkerbella but owner was 'Alpha wolf ' very strict with them
better still sealed in some sort of chastity belt so they can't breed

I take it that's the owners Rowan ?
of course... but only until Mrs O arrives with her housebricks
Didn't they do a ballet about this - "The Nutcracker"!
By Ivan Ackerov
and choreography by Nae Gonads.
I think Dan Gleebitz was sacked though ...
The leading man M T Leo Tarde stormed off in a huff
.. and the leading lady Ivana Legova was sadly disappointed ...
shoot me down in flames but I dont know how you can make jokes when that poor dog is living in the most inhumane conditions and the family are refused permission to even visit him, shame on you.
i have to agree about some dogs being muzzled when out, and i am fed up to the back teeth of being assailed by dogs who are let loose in our local parks. I cannot walk through one now, as it's being used as a dog toilet. The animals may not be at fault, but if you are bitten by one, who will you blame, the owner or the dog.
