Went to watch the torch go through mum's wee town...sssooooo exciting..trillions of met police on bikes ..and pushbikes...they were very good with the crowds and had us all laughing....got to hold the torch...great day !!
Fantastic - I was wondering how you'd enjoyed it mm.
We saw it while we were on holiday and it all felt quite sureal.
It was 7.30am and there were only a few people up and about. The crowd gradually built up but they included us and we felt part of the community. I held the torch too and had my picture taken with it. Great atmosphere and lovely police officers doing everything possible to make it fun and well organised.
Then you must all be Geordies, or near enough, as the thing passed through Whitley Bay at 1425 today. I only know this because I was stuck on a bus for 20 minutes trying to get home.
i'm on a call list with my council - when the torch comes through my town, i shall be conscripted to assist in some form or another (crowd marshalling probably).
