runner beans
Evening ,how`s everbody`s runner beans doing this year? mine are a complete disaster any idea`s from you as to why, growth is stunted and leaves are yellow.

I grew them in pots in a plastic greenhouse and rather than plant them out in May, I opened the front and left them sheltered in there for an extra few weeks.
Its not too late to pop a few more beans direct into the ground next to your ailing plants. If they come back and the new ones grow too then all well and good; but if the original ones are lost these will grow up to take their place.

I bought a strip in B & Q the other day which were reduced to 20p, some of the tops had either been eaten or broken off, looks more like they have been eaten, but went ahead and planted the whole lot anyway, been out to check on them today and so far so good. I had originally decided not to grow anything this year as we have a hosepipe ban and watering is a pain without it, but for 20p I thought it was worth taking the risk :)
