Learning to Say No

A very good friend bought two tickets for an event and invited me to go with her. The event is something I would loathe so I told her I was very flattered, but declined.
What would you have done?

I'd have declined too although I was once asked if I wanted to accompany a friend who had a spare ticket for a Stones concert and said no thanks, that I regret a bit.

Iwould have said no thank you too, and explained it was not my cup of tea. Otherwise if you say nothing and go, she might invite you again to something similar.
