I bought a third-hand Punto which ran fine for 6 weeks. Now the immobilser won't disengage. Unfortunately, I now find I need a code card to sort this out, but the garage didn't provide them.

Is this a major problem? Will a dealer be able to solve it?

The keys have a chip inside which disengages the immobilser. This has obviously become faulty. Try using another key. If not, you will need the big red key - this allows you to have a key cut and programmed into the computer y fiat - your looking at about 100. Never buy a fiat without the big red key.

In doubt speak to Fiat.

Hi

What year is the Fiat in question? Fiat ditched the RED master key system around 1999, A missing RED master key can cost over 1K to replace!

Some auto locksmiths can clone these Fiat keys & recode the immobiliser, If you cant find one with the correct kit then take it to a Fiat dealer & hope you have the later transponder immobiliser system.
