password problems,please help or I'm going to die!

I took out the battery from the back of my computer, had to re-configure the whole computer, and have ended up where I started: the start up screen and windows requesting my password which I have forgotten. Is there anyway of resetting the password, eventhough I can't actually sign in and change it like a normal person can.

Try typing 'Admin' as the password. That's what I had to put in after comp repairs. Good luck!

..LOL..how on earth does one forget something they use every day?........I always write anything down that is SO important but not on the front of my monitor for obvious reasons <G>

It is possible to get into it but a lot depends on things like what version of windows you have how your hard disk is set up etc.

Your best bet is to look up an independant computer support company from the back of your local paper, ring them up and tell them the details they should be able to get into it for you

Could you post some more info please.

What barrery did you remove? Was it the BIOS battery - the one on your motherboard?

What is asking for a password? is it the BIOS login screen or windows.

What operating system do you have is it XP ME 98 etc.

Some things to try.

Don't type ant password just hit enter.

If you run XP then Boot in safe mode and login as Administrator. You can then change the login password.
