My wife has been left a beautiful fur coat by an aunt (now deceased) but will not wear it to go to a restauran or function.
What should she do with it?
Sell it - there are still those who will buy. If it's a vintage coat, it's not been made by killing a recent animal - those who are already dead are dead, nothing will bring them back.
Yes-try putting it on ebay-there were quite a few on there during last winter. Look for international buyers,as they may not be so bothered by wearing fur,
Wearing is only a personal or very local problem; since fake fur became fashionable for a while, it makes less sense to spit at someone wearing a 'fur' !
Plenty of people still wear them here, and there's still a market; there's s a booth selling fur coats at Newmarket race meetings, for example; and there are still furriers in London who buy coats. What fur is it? Some old furs fetch very good money, not just because of the fur it is, but because the quality is very good.
It's common to see many women in Eastern Europe wear furs during the winter. I don't think they worry about the ethics like people in Western Europe. I'm sure if you advertise the coat on-line then someone from there will happily buy it.
If she has a worry about making money from it..(cos i get the impression she dosent like it or mabye dosent agree with real fur) then she could sell and give money to charity or something in memorial of the aunt etc....xxxx
