A blow for The Establishment
11 Answers
It is reported in the Daily Mirror today that The Feathers, a pub in Surrey, was raided by police and bungling council officials last night at 10pm because a 4AM gig was being advertised at the pub.
They were acutely embarrassed as it turned out that the name of the band playing the gig was "4AM" and the gig was to take place during normal opening hours.
What a blow for The Establishment!

But they did. There was no raid. They went along and asked the landlady, who set them straight, and they went away again.
The landlady is outraged that anyone came to ask about it

but I think should probably wind her neck in. The police have done their job and nobody's been harmed in any way.
This is a mildly funny misunderstanding but a total non-news-story.

To be honest you'd have thought they could have called first to see what the idea was, since it's hardly crime of the century, and a lot of law abiding people think something is up if they see the police in a pub, and a lot of non law abiding ones will do the off as well, so either way it's not good for her business- and totally unnecessary.
