Who created The Simpsons?

That would be Matt Groening - you can see his name on the credits and he based it on his own family, with himself as Bart. The rest of his family have the same names as the characters in the cartoon. The reason Marge's hair is so high is that that's how Matt's mother's (Marge, presumably) hair looked to him as a kid.
