If you leave food in an open tin in the fridge it will soon take on a "tinny" metal flavour. This is often why cats and dogs refuse to eat their petfood if it is kept for a second day. I keep a few small plastic containers with lids and empty any left over tinned food into these. It's a little more trouble but the food always stores perfectly without tasting tainted..

Thanks, everyone.

Tin changes in character at around 4 degrees celcius. This can taint the food. You should always decant tinned food into a ceramic or plastic container before storing in the fridge.
