And Traci66 has given a very good answer. Wool doesn't shrink in a cool wash.
they never use a tumble dryer.
They do if you tumble dry them.................
Grease in the fleece I'd have thought, that's where lanolin comes from!

Because their helmets would fall off, I thought that everyone would know that.
Stroke a sheep, then look at your hand.

That is why water rolls off them. They are not fluffy like cotton wool. They are like a hundred years of unwashed hair, but the hair of someone who rolled in chip-fat instead of bathing.
Can't say I've ever had reason to stroke a sheep mosaic but I'll bear it in mind if I get a chance to do so.
Because their fleece has natural grease to protect them from the elements.
