Recent issues raised on Netball threads ...

(1) "Australia take the game serioulsy, don't they."

(2) "Is it really played outside Europe?"

How can this post have attracted no responses yet? I for one will be listening with great interest, as this promises to be some of the most compelling radio since Qatar took on Djibouti in ice hockey in Oslo in 1952. When the Cook Islands faces Papua New Guinea, sparks will fly!

Question Author
Is that a real event ???
No..... but it might as well be.... the formation vacuuming is quite jolly though it's coming from Brazil this year
Question Author
Okay, so that's not a real event either.

There is a Knitting Olympics that sounds like it would make for some pretty good radio:

45 minutes to the first centre pass in the opening match.

I'll keep you posted.

I'm not sure why but, for some reason, the FCP is scheduled for 7.05pm (!) local time. Local in Fiji, that is.

Final score this morning (tonight, local time) ... bit one sided ...

Fiji 70 - 29 Papua New Guinea
Question Author
Final score in this morning's first game ...

Fiji 41 - 35 Samoa

In the second game, it's half time. The half time score is ...

Cook Islands 34 - 28 Papua New Guinea

So it's looking good for Fiji, with a convincing win over Papau New Guinea, and a closer win over Samoa.
Question Author
45 - 41 to the Cook Islands after three quarters.
the Cook Islands are playing? Goodness me, they have a population of about 60,000 (Papua 6 million, 100 times as big), so they're doing very well.

If I lived here

I would not be playing netball.
Question Author
Ooh, lovely pictures, jno ...

=0)

Well, the Cook Islands won ...

Cook Islands 62 - 56 Papua New Guinea

That just goes to show ... when it comes to your sporting population ...

It's not how big it is, it's what you do with it.
