This is the most commen problem of the Ford KA and Fiesta range.
Firstly it is nothing to do with your stereo being fitted.
Your thermostatic valve has broken.
If you lift up your bonnet on the car and look to the back, where your windsceen motor is, You will see a small unit with 2 hoses coming from either side of the unit. The unit is the broken part.
Drain the engine of water. Unclip the hoses by releasing the spring clips. Remove the old unit.
Reconnect the hoses back to the new unit..Place unit back in housing, fill car with water and antifreeze.
Now for the worst bit. The part is a Ford genuine part only so you do have to pay full price and at 46.50 for such a little part. You could try a scrap yard but I scouered 5 yards and all i got from the hillbillies that worked there was this is the first part that goes of these cars when they come into scrap yards. Hope this Helps
I to have the same problem. The engine runs at the right temperature and the heater valve has been changed, (nothing wrong with the old one!!). I have investigated this carefuly and firstly the heater should not be effected by the thermstat. The opening of the thermostat brings the radiator into the loop and the heater should still receive hot water through the matrix. What I have discovered is that the water system is not presurising?? The next step is to chexk the expansion cap and see if it has a leek. After this I will try the water pump. Theory being that if this has broken then the water is not being pumped. Normally you would expect this to cause the engine to overheat, but mine isn't. Beyond this I have no idea - Any help would be appreciated. (Car model Fiesta 1.8DT Mk5.)
i have no thermostat in the car at the mo due to it overheating a while back so it was simply taken out...
ive had no heating or air con since, and have now today gone and bought a new thermo...the guy in the garage told me that no air at all is blowing out and that it could be loose wiring or the heat valve has gone!!
also my car seems to be making a loud fan like ( hoovering sound ) sometimes when im driving at a lowish speed is this anything to do with having no thermo....
any advice would be very greatful xxx
