The question of knowing or not means little in this country ..blue or pink bedroom decor and such things are of little consequence in the scheme of things...when baby he or baby she arrives we are immediately overwhelmed with love for the noisy, smelly ungrateful little thing whatever the sex.....that was the thing that surprised me most about my kids!

In other countries though "knowing" has a more sinister side to it...in these cultures for reasons acceptable to them, girl babies are undesirable and we have all read the horror stories of what happens to them.....

We should give thanks that we can reproduce, not worry if it will be just "another" boy/girl cos we already have one of those.....
We didn't have a choice with the first, they didn't tell you then, I was convinced it was a girl, when born I looked when they held her up, I went oh its a boy didn't want that, the midwife replied, no its a girl that's the cord. oops.(to much gas and air). Found out before with the next 2, so much easier getting things ready. Last 2 OH and me knew, but wouldn't tell anyone, best mate worked it out, no-one else did.
Have a friend, he knows the sex but she doesn't want to know. 8 weeks to go and she still doesn't want to know. Couldn't do that one.

I'd have preferred to know, we didn't have the option in the 70s. I was convinced my first was a girl so it took some getting used to when I had a boy. I wasn't at all disappointed, just surprised. My second was a boy too.
The health of my children was my only concern, which sex they were really didn't matter to me. I would not have wanted to know, especially as the guessing is quite fun and no matter what the child turned out to be, I was going to be so happy!
Makes good practical and financial sense to know !
gawd dotty...what a title!! lol thought I was going to be reading a milder
version of 50 shades!!!

when I had mine it was surprise, surprise...I wanted a girl, longed for a girl,
and got my wish. If the opportunity had been available then, possibly, might
have wanted to know...but imagine going through so many months of 'it'
not being the sex you wanted!! x
