Now there's a surprise, whatever will 'Posh' say?
Never mind I do believe the Spice Girls are making a come-back.

Great servant for one person and one person alone-himself-caps given for mediocre substitutions and living on the glory of the free kick against Greece. Sad thing is that a lot of people believe the 'I feel honoured' publicity seeking speak. At home with the celebrity lifestyle-good on him for diversifying his career, but then in a country that reveres Mickey Mouse playing for a Mickey Mouse football team isn't a bad option.
He was a good player, hardly great by any stretch of the imagination.
He wouldnt stand out in the EPL today nor would he
Nearly all of the hype that surrounds him is down to his looks and this seems to have clouded peoples ability in assessing how good a footballer he actually was.
Beckham was practically a one trick pony, but dont let that get in the way of claiming he was a great footballer.
And now we hear coe is going to make sure there is a "place" for him doing something at the olympics.
He will be used to fill/sell all the empty seats and thats about it really.
Oh yeah he does charidee work...doesnt everyone these days ?!

If Beckham wanted to continue his England and Olympic career he should have played for a proper team instead of playing for money, in a micky mouse joke team in the USA.
If he had of stayed here do you really think he would still be getting first team football in the prem....not in a million years would he

Duncer - Good god, nobody is worth that amount. Lucky him (and her). As I said hope they have made sure they will still be all right in their middle to old age, plus their kids of course. It is surprising how money can dribble away until it is all gone, without you realising it, especially if you have a life-style like theirs. And children are certainly a drain on the expenses.
I have no football axe to grind, but as a bystander, it seems wrong on a number of levels that Beckham was not selected.
From a sporting point of view, the Olympics football is a joke - hence the utter lack of interest, so Beckham would have been a considerable draw for the non-interested, and would have given the teams someone to play in front of.
He is still playing at a professional level, unlike the Man City player (no idea of names) whom I`m advised by the present Mrs Hughes has not played for months.
But above all, as an ambassador for the Games, and a major player in securing the Games for London, Beckham should be included as a courtesy - let`s face it, it`s not as if it`s a seriously competative event for the UK.
So on balance, I think his exclusion looks mean-spirited and nasty.

I would agree with that analysis Andy. It's not as if we're putting out a full strength team; it's an under 23 side with a few old codgers allowed, so I had imagined that his ambassadorial role in helping to secure the games would have helped him gain a place in the squad and a possible run out in part of a game. Tickets sales are dreadful in some areas, with over 90% still unsold for Hampden Park despite Spain playing there.
Strangely the SFA are billing it as "The World Champions are coming".
They aren't! Spain under 23's are.
