80's film

does anyone recall a film about a geek kid set in the 80's who was turned' cool' by a hot clever girl in the school. I think he paid her something like a �1000. She began to fancy him and he turned arrogant and started to screw her over toward the end at a party. I can remeber one scene where they were in a vast area with old planes in it and she started to fall for him then. Ring any bells???
