Why do cots have bars around them?
My 7 month old daughter, when on her tummy is forever getting her legs caught between the bars and can't get her them out!!
Why not have narrower spacing between the bars or mesh???

I've actually now transferred my boy over to his travel cot (with his cot mattress in it) - it doesn't look as nice but you do hear about kids breaking arms or legs in cots. I know its not necessarily a big problem as otherwise there would be safety warnings but I thought Ben was going to hurt himself! I also put him in a sleeping bag too. x
When my eldest was about 16 months old, she had yet again got her leg stuck. At the time I was single and I couldnt free her leg on my own. I had to call her father to come to my place and, with his workmate, managed to get her leg out between them. It was very scarey and she was screaming everytime I tried to get her leg out. Luckily she stayed calm whilst we waited for help by having a bottle of milk.
Needless to say, that was the last time she slpet with the bars on! Luckily it was a cotbed so I converted it that day.
My 3 month old is still in her moses basket, just! We will be getting her a cotbed and, like red has suggested, plan on using baby sleeping bags to help prevent the same happneing again.

I've been looking tonight and found this. I would appear to be the perfect solution!!
Hope it helps
