No a think tank says the NHS must cut some unnecessary services. Doe this mean we will see and end to the 'World Health' Service and non life thretening work such as sex changes and ivf for lesbians or will these expensive PC activites continue and the axe will fall, yest again, on those that work and pay?

What would you cut from the NHS?

Am undecided on IVF - childlessness is hardly a life threatening condition but I can understand the despair some must suffer. However, considered beside children's cancer wards this becomes somewhat inconsequential. It is a condition rather than an illness needing treatment.
Perhaps we should copy NZ policy.

Medical Care is free at point of need once a condition is diagnosed; but initial visits to the GP incur a charge.

You are missing the point, if they were not allowed in, in the first place, then there would be more to go round for the others.

Simulative could be drawn from a bird table, if one provided a garden bird table and started feeding a handful of birds, one would find that one would have to increase the provision of bird food when the word got round and more birds were pecking from the table.
I see your analogy, but I would counter that it doesn't quite translate to the question of economic migrants.

I think you'd the analogy works better if you said you had a bird table which you placed seed on, and some birds from a neighbouring garden came over with some seed of their own, placed it on the table and then all the birds tucked in.

Actually, that doesn't work either...
but ... are the neighbouring birds sending your bird seed home AND telling other birds to come there for your birdseed?

I think that somehow it has been forgotten that the NHS is funded from taxes & one of these is income tax which is paid out of people's wages & salaries. The amount of people who do not have a job must be affecting the amount of revenue collected by the government, so don't ask me how but I feel that more efforts should be made to get the unemployed back into jobs to raise more revenue.
Getting the unemployed back to work is all very laudable, but what do we do with the Jermey Kyle watching utterly unemployable generation?

Send them to Afghanistan as sandbags perhaps?
