Charity shop. Second shift.

I did my second three hour shift at the charity shop yesterday and really enjoyed it. The difference was, I was out in the shop, on the till and dealing with the customers.
We had all sorts of people in including a bloke who was really excited to find half a dozen saucers for £1.99. I asked him if he was going to use them as plant pot saucers but he said, 'No we quite often break saucers, so it will be good to have some replacements.' ..............Er, right!

Then, the local very lonely lady came in for her daily chat. She wears a badge saying 'I'm hard of hearing, please speak up.' So she shouts at you and you have to shout back.

I loved it. The manager has declared that I'm a 'people person' and would be much more useful in the shop than in the back with the piles of detritus.

So that's all right then.

aww great you had a good time tilly... ive been volunteering in one for nearly a year and love it. I do about 14 to 16 hours a week and do a bit of everything but i dont like being on the shop floor.... i prefer it in the back. Ive done it since being out of work and its great all round, it keeps me in a work type environment and gets me out the house and obviously it benefits them too... also they have sent me on training courses and stuff so thats a great benefit

I'm glad you enjoy your voluntary work pdust. Hopefully, I will be saying the same sort of things this time next year.
*Yes but who buys six odd saucers to go with their cups? I'd rather do without a saucer. *

someone obviously did lol..... its surprising what people buy and get great delight from.....
I went into the local PDSA charity shop today and they had a brand new staywell cat flap, all unopened still and it was only £5! i was walking to argos to get one and just popped in there instead!
but - rather nice to think that he or they have standards - like using a
cup and saucer - this used to be so important to an older generation - whereas mugs were considered sloppy
Question Author
I use cups and saucers mojay and I'm not from an older generation. That's why I think it's odd to have odd saucers.
sorry - I should have explained my thoughts more clearly - if he's short of cash for a matching set etc - but can find saucers in a charity shop and still feel he's 'proper ' - you know what I'm trying to say hopefully !
Question Author
Yes, mojay I know what you mean.
did you check they weren't valuable? lol!
Question Author
