Crows

We seem to have an influx of them lately, not sure why, but they are getting right on my t!ts. Us and next door had a new roof 2 years ago, and they are pooing all over it. Most of the roofs on the bungalows in our road have the same problem.

Anybody know anything about the dos and don'ts of crows.

There has always been a few knocking about, but just recently they seem to be busing them in on coaches.

Julia - I think all species of birds are frightened of the Crows. The other night on my neighbour's roof across the road, there was an enormous Heron, it stood there for a minute or two then two Crows came along and fluttered around it, swooping down and the Heron flew away. I was amazed as the Heron was a lot bigger than them. They seem quite fearless. Yuk !

Ratter, we don't shoot any gulls, they don't cause crop damage so they don't get shot.

Its OK chuck, I wasnt suggesting you do, I was just stating the legal position on them.

I have shot many gulls whilst wearing my pest control hat and frequently had the police out to arrest me until I quoted the "Countryside and Wildlife Act" to them.

You need to get a pest controller in to put wires on the roof or you could try a large Eagle Owl decoy sat on the ridge, they work as long as you dont leave them there all the time, take it down every few weeks and then put it back up after a few weeks. A lot of faffing about though.

I think they're magnificent birds. They are also one of nature's 'clean up crew' tidying away lots of the cr*p we leave lying around, including squashed beasties at the side of the road.
Ok, Dos:
Do appreciate them, do adopt an orphaned one and teach it to speak (they can do this) do collect some nice photos of them when you are out and about with a camera.
Don'ts:
Don't malign them or be tainted because you watched The Omen once and it's left an almost intangeable but distinct freeling of unease. Don't be bothered by their sh!t - it washes off and it's organic.
