A couple of weeks ago I tripped over and landed on my hands and knees. Ended up at the local NHS Walk In Centre last week because my knee was still very swollen. An infection was diagnosed and I was given a course of antibiotics, which I finished today. Knee now fully functioning but the bruising is still quite bad - most of it has slid down my leg and ended up on my foot, which is still dark blue! The bruising on my shin has faded and it now a mottled yellow colour. Trouble is the skin is still very tender and itchy! Is this normal??

Well yes..........if you did have an infection and the pain has gone, your knee functions normally and you are left with tender itchy skin, leaving a mottled yellow colour, I would say that healing is progressing normally.
A good excuse for plenty of rest and a glass or two of liquid painkiller, I would have thought.
one morning you'll notice the bruise has fallen off the end of your leg into your bed :)
bednobs....LOL
i swear that's what happened to my bruising after my knee replacement - gradually it got lower and lower till it slid off the end of my toes!

Cheers all. Yes had a few 'liquid' painkillers. Glad to know that everything is progressing normally. Will just have to wait until the bruising drops of the end of my foot then!!!
