Hi, can anyone recommend a free program where I can monitor my monthly download quota so I don't go over and get charged extra from BT. I used to use theirs but for some reason they have shut it down...I wonder why. Cheers.

BT hasn't done away with it's Broadband usage meter; but I think it has been made more difficult to access.
No problem if (as I do) you pay your bill by 'Direct Debit' and are registered for viewing your account 'on line'.
If you wish to proceed along the lines which I have adopted, have a look at the following:-

All rather strange. I have just this moment checked my usage and, whilst I am allocated 10GB per month, up until 23.59 last night, I have only used 1.8.
Personally, I would be e/mailing BT on the matter.:-

Wak....Bitmeter tells you the speeds of your broadband connection; whereas the OP wants to know the usage of his monthly quota. He is concerned that he may incur a further charge, which I don't think is excessive, of £5 per 5GB, if he exceeds his allocation.
Anyway if one wishes to check Broadband speeds, I would be suggesting:-

Ah right, I understand now, they provide a usage meter tool you install on your computer.

These tools are fine if you only have one device in the house that uses the internet (including phones, internet enabled TV ect) if you have more than one device then the providers website, or possibly your router logs are the only way to do it reliably.
(not all routers will provide the information on usage)

Wak....You are Not arguing with me, but have drawn my attention to an oversight on my part. Bitmeter does also provide a 'read-out' of usage but, in view of what Chuck has said, I would question the accuracy of the information.
As the OP is with BT and appears unable to access its 'Broadband Usage Meter, I would suggest that he forgets about usage until BT informs him that he has used 80% of his monthly allocation; and even then ignore the fact. BT does not raise a charge for over usage on the first month one goes over the authorised limit.
