Hi Christina - I too am looking for work from home and I have spent so much time checking everything out and to be honest anything where you have to pay first doesn't seem right - apart from things like herbalife which I tried but was just so time demanding it was ridiculous. I'm still looking and if I find anything worthwhile will let you know
They are a cynical & evil con on desperate people. Working at home scams include addressing envelopes (as if companies don't have label printing machines), assembling goods (here the con is you have to buy the parts and sell them back to the company you bought them from who will reject them on the grounds of poor quality) or scams like Herbalife (just look in shop window adverts and newspapers for all the desperate ads from suckers trying to offload their stocks).
.
The only people making money from home are the scammers.
I agree Pinotage - but what worried me most when I joined Herbalife (yes I was that stupid) is the way they make their money - although they will deny this - is really pyramid selling - they don't make money on the products they sell - behind that smokescreen (which makes it legal - you have to have a product) is their marketing and recruitment plan - so you sign up people under you to sign up people under them etc etc. They supply a video and manual with all the info on and then you join in group telephone calls to discuss how to get more people involved. I found it distasteful and false and when I told them I wanted to stop doing it they took 6 months to get the hint and stop emailing me!
Phew! Got that off my chest!
certain homeworking does work but it is hard work, boring, repetitive, and not very good money (no matter what the advert says) so don't expect to earn more than minimum wage. On the up-side you work when you want to, and of course you work from home. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE - anything which insists on money up front - genuine home-working involves the employer supplying you with all the materials and tools you need for free, anything else is a scam. My neighbour does it and makes a small living out of it.
Have you ever considered "mystery shopping" ? Most retail and food businesses have them and all you do is shop at the designated place then write up a report about their service. To find a mystery shopping agency local to you just go into any old chain store and ask the manager what company they deal with (because it's easy to get scammed if you just look around on the internet).
