I have taken out a policy with Aviva for when I die, it's to cover my funeral expenses. There is one clause I am not quite understanding:
'We only pay the death benefit on one occasion and once this is paid the policy will cease'.............am I missing out?

Wot !
It's to prevent people like Jesus from claiming, being resurrected and then making another claim.

Question Author
speaking to them now lol
Doesn't life assurance mean they are assuring you that you will carry on living ?
Wouldn't we all like two bites at the cherry. Some greedy beggars about.
lol, i want to know how they explain it
In case you die twice!!
Bloody hell, have none of you ever seen James Bond '' You Only Live Twice ''.

poor woman, she went through all the security questions and then desperately tried to explain what that clause meant and I said 3 times .'well no I intend coming back' and she kept saying that I couldn't, so I said .'well I can do anything', then I told her i was taking the mick, she said all her colleagues were loking at her strangely! she ended up laughing along....... 9 out of 10 to her for effort though, she handled it well!
LOL, well done dot.
Question Author
come to think of it, she was only able to explain that I could only die once, and they would only pay out once, she didn't explain why they used that wording in the clause.......
Lol

When my dad died he had been insured with the Prudential. A few months after they had paid out, a letter arrived addressed to him, giving details of a new type of policy which included the words"this policy could change your life"
It could be a standard clause for both single and joint (couples) cover saying that they only out on the first death
I have no life insurance whatsoever, let's face it even if I died a pauper they wouldn't leave me up top..................
I think Cathyhuns is right.
My OH and I have a joint policy which will only pay out on the first one to die, and has the same wording even though it is not with Aviva.
