I intend buying a mobility scooter, any one knows of a company who would supply "third party cover".

Ring the main Insurance Companies such as Direct Line etc up and ask for a quote. There are several Companies that you can contact for quotes and then you can decide on the best one for your needs.

I applaud your decision to get insured as a personal injury claim could potentially escalate to tens of thousands of pounds - it would be just your luck to break David Beckham's leg, or damage one of Victoria's handbags.

If the rider of the scooter is liable for any injury or damage to property he or she can be sued in civil court for the appropriate damages. Could run in to many thousands of pounds.

There was something on the radio the other wek saying that people should have to have a test for them, but surely, if they can't drive a car no longer, they aren't safe on a scooter.

A lot of people who have mobility scooters have never driven a car.
There is a huge difference between driving a car and riding a mobility scooter.

Mollykins: I have just driving large vehicles, buses, coaches, mobile cranes, ans HV goods, and had a clean licence for 55years, so if you can achieve that you may comment on mobility drivers ability. But I do realise accidents may happen to anyone, so I still get insurance, just in case.
