MM and KM Links July 2012 Week [3]

I'm here to remind you that tomorrow morning, like every Saturday morning sees the launch of the two Links Games in Q & P.
Seekeerz starts you all off early with the KM version of the game based on the Daily Telegraph GK crosswords. Although it starts early, you can play any time until midnight on Sunday with an equal chance of scoring.
Not so the MM version.
That starts dead on 9am (with an introduction 15 minutes earlier. The availability of bonus points in this version favours early plays so be sure to get your guesses in early. This month, the challenge is being set by Rockfordill.
In both games you have to suggest a word that when paired with the challenge word makes either a new word or a well known phrase.
There has been a slight improvement in the weather which means the shrubbery has finally started to dry out. Along the back fence, the espalier apples are starting to put on weight but I am sure they have already been attacked by the codling moth - we'll find out soon enough.
Time now for me to leave you and pop off for a pint or two. I'll be back 7pm Sunday with the MM scores.
Until then,

However, looking round the Strix patch in Sassenach Wessex, there is little if any fruit dangling off the branches of the pear and apple trees. And what there is is tiny and unlikely to ripen into anything worth picking or eating this autumn.
Even the cherries, in their pre-pubescent state, have all been picked off the tree by blackbirds, jackdaws and rooks.
