Yes tilly, I would put them both in the garden. The fuschia would prefer a bit of shade, but the dahlia can go anywhere, mine are in the full sun and doing well - good luck rosy
I have sent my snails/slugs off on holiday now the warm weather has arrived (at last). Must admit I overfed them previously and they did not want to go !!!
Get a plastic cup, fill with straw, and stick it upside down on a cane near to your dahlia to trap earwigs at night, then burn it in the morning to cremate the little beggers, otherwise they will feast on it.

Humidity and excess moisture is extremely bad for lavender and will result in rot and death of the plant. It is generally not necessary to fertilize lavender plants. A bit of compost used as a mulch around the base of the plant is usually enough to produce healthy growth. Plants should be watered only when the soil is dry. Plants should be pruned each fall by about 1/3. This will result in healthier, fuller plants and more blooms.
I for one am grateful for the lavender advice anyway, I never know when to prune them or by how much, also good to know I have them in EXACTLY the right place - thank you carlton - rosy :o)
