I always think that anyone who commits this sort of crime values life so little-their own included-that death for them is not a punishment.
If it was one of my relatives who'd been killed,I'd want the guilty party to suffer a living hell. A lethal injection would be too easy. Let them stay in the roughest jail possible with equally sadistic prisoners.

i fully expect him to be found guilty....and he is a waaaaay bit beyond counselling or other low grade psychiatric interventions. anybody who does something like that could not be in their right mind. and two wrongs never make a right - i am sure loads of people would want him strung up and disappeared from this planet. but....i have worked with mentally disordered offenders for years. some do not give a Sugar about what they do, carry on destructive behaviours and do not engage with anything that is offered to them at all. but others do recover after a long period of time and are utterly disgusted, ashamed, suicidal and unable to reconcile what they have done when they are extremely unwell. we should consider our humanity in how we deal with people when things like this happen. should we try to treat people who are mentally disordered; have learning disabilities; or other problems which have made them commit heinous crimes (and not release them - obviously) and try to understand how society produces people like this. or shall we just execute everybody that does not fit into our extremely wonderfully fluffed up society because it is easier? they are people, like you and me (however hard that may be to reconcile against the crime that has been committed) and have rights and a place in society - even if it is prison for the rest of their lives. would you be prepared to push the button or inject them/dispatch them in a manner you see fit....or would you expect somebody else to do it? capital punishment is more than a way to deal with offenders. it is a reflection of the society within which it takes place.....and i do think people need to think more deeply about the issue of capital punishment before advocating it while the true facts of what happened are known. think about places like china, afghanistan and anywhere else that like is taken so freely....and injustly.
lcg76 - I have read and can understand your reasoning. However, I would ask the anti-capital punishment brigade: ''How would you cope with your conscience if it was your own six-year-old who had been massacred by a gunslinger? Would reasoning enter your mind. Would you care if they were not of sound mind, temporarily phased or just irresponsible? I think not.
After all - everyone in this life should be responsible for their actions.

and if victims were able to persecute offenders, what would happen to our society and humanity? we have a justice system for a reason and i fail to understand how capital punishment is justice or righteousness for anybody. i also do not understand why i feel i should justify myself further on this topic. i just do not agree with capital punishment.....period.
