Stamps inland and abroad

I have a book of the 1st class stamps with no value printed. Nowhere can I see on it whether they are for inland post only. Are they valid, to the right equivalent postage, for sending letters to France or the US ?

I have sent letters abroad with the stamps that have just 1st or 2nd class printed on them, afaic as long as they add up to the amount you need, they are fine.

as long as your letters are the correct weight you can use stamps that have first and second class on them. As you did before the postage went up.

Ta, daisya. Can't be bothered to flog down to the post office to get the right stamp. Royal Mail should make this fact better known, because two first class stamps must be more than the right one for a letter to France and they'd make money from the bone idle like me.
