dog hairs in washing machine

i have 2 very hairy golden retrievers, and when i put black shirts in the washer, they often come out with hairs and fluff on. is there any device or method to avoid this? is there something i can put in the washer to attract fluff and hairs away from clothing?

Try a laundry bag with the dark items inside.

Clean the filter on the machine and also run it a couple of times empty to try to flush it.

I use fabric conditioner, then tumble dry which seems to work, I think that nickmo may have a point though, it sounds as though your filter isn't working properly

Forgot to say - may be obvious but don't put the dogs in with the rest of the washing, and that should help.

I have a Dalmatian and his short white sharp hairs get everywhere. Even tumble drying doesn't help - I suppose the answer is no dogs, but wouldn't our lives be the poorer for it!

Filters are normally on the front of the machine at thge botteom . There should be cover you can unscrew. There's likely to be a bit of water in there, but the filter is a short tube of mesh that catches the gunk from the washing.

If you can't see it on the machine, look in the hand book for description of where it is, or if you know where the machine came from, check with the supplier.

And Immac will only make the dogs smell funny. Just shave them on a regular basis and that will stop the problem.

Oh, and actually reading your quaetion, did you miss out a comma, and mean that the dogs come out with the shirts on, covered in hair and fluff as well?

Usually at the base of the machine is a little panel that hinges open. Inside there is a cap that unscrews. Put something like a towel on the floor before you unscrew it as some water will escape. You can then inspect the filter and clean it out.

I meant to say that Woofgang's suggestion of fabric conditioner in the wash and a tumble dryer is the best option. I have five animals and even when I line dry I always use the tumbler afterwards for about five minutes to get rid of the animal hair that sticks to the clothing.

normally I'm the pedant. apologies for scribbling that question a little too late at night, but love the way it's been de-constructed!!! i need to get my subjects and objects sorted...

Ok , mental image here. On which word is the stress - on 'I'm,' meaning you alone are all hairy now, and wanting something you don't want to elaborate on, or on 'still', in which case who's hairs are we discussing?
