I would like you all to know a little tip my late grandmother taught me for good luck. When you get up in the morning of the first day of the month you say "Rabbits" very loudly. That will bring you good luck all the month long. Also you have to say "Hares" last thing at night on the last day of the old month.

Does anyone else obey this tradition and does it work for them? I understand that this custom originates from Australia.

Thanks once again for your kind and speedy replies.

I say "White Rabbits" as soon as I get up, on the first of the month. The swear filter would explode with what I say at the end of the month though.....
yep ive been doing it for years must work as i have never been skint
Yep white rabbits for me too - a lot nicer than the schooldays 'pinch, punch, first of the month' which is obviously assault:-)
I try as much as I can not to be superstitious, especially as i have trouble remembering the day let alone the date!
I heard it was white rabbit 3 times as soon as you wake and dont speak before you say it lol...x
Maybe we should say rampant rabbits all month and see what happens ! they might bring us good *uck lol x
I've never heard the Hares custom, but we've always said "white rabbits" on the first of the month - I don't think it's Australian! You can only say it up until lunchtime in our family.

There was also a rhyme "a pinch and a punch for the first of the month, and no returns!" - anyone remember that?
flick kick for being so quick!
I do not conform to silly superstitions, I don't understand why people do it, I think generally speaking people don't believe in them but still perform these weird rituals.
Pinch and a punch, the first of the month.
punch and a kick for being so quick.
punch in the eye for being so sly.
It's "white rabbits" and I agree with RATTER......one for the insecure members of our society.........
What a load of tosh.
I used to say it years ago but forgot all about it "white rabbits" everyone !
