bit like the drivers in this country - they like to hog lanes 2 & 3,
as for Olympics don't know - don't care.

Think it is because the innermost lane has the tightest bends. It is thought very slightly less comfortable to run in and may slightly disadvantage the runner.

I was thinking about that as well.
Probably been dug up for gas/water or electricity works no doubt.
