Turmeric's anti-inflammatory properties
2 Answers
Has anyone here used Turmeric to successfully relieve aches, pains and bruising with it?
Also, is it possible to use it (assuming it works well) if you take anti-coagulants? Ordinarily, you can't mix anti-coagulants and anti-inflammatories.
Thanks for any advice.

Objective, controlled evidence for the efficaciousness of turmeric as an anti-inflammatory are poor. Some people say they think it works, others dont. Anecdotal evidence is a poor basis for taking something ;)
As far as I am aware, there are no documented instances of an interaction between turmeric and anti-coagulants, especially warfarin, but there is a theoretical possibility that such an interaction could occur, with a possible rise in the INR ( measure of effectiveness of the anticoagulant) so if you are on anti-coagulants you would be wise to consult with your GP first.
