soft top on my saab

The soft top on my Saab is not working properly. The flap that lifts up in order for the soft top to slide inside the boot is not lifting. Has anyone else suffered this ?

My mate had this happen on his R reg 900 2.3, one of the joints or something inside that lifts the flap had broken, he had to take it to his local Saab specialist and it was costly yes.

Susan- i'm sure you know this already - but whatever happens dont take it SAAB. Find an independent in your area who specialises in SAAB (what area do you live in?) and they will do a much cheaper job. Not much help mechanically i'm afraid but i wouldnt take my 900 anywhere near a SAAB dealer. SAAB convertibles are lovely and are usually very reliable but when they go they can v. expensive i'm afraid.
