What did you think of the so-called musical closing ceremony? Modern music seems to me little more than rhythmic shouting and it leaves me cold. Maybe I'm 'old fashioned' but without melody is it really music?

Its all a matter of opinion, personally I think that the music was mostly excellent & everyone I have spoken to agrees that it was very good. It comes down to the fact that you cannot please everybody.

I only got to about 11pm when I was made to go to bed but will definitely catch up on the rest (I believe it was the best bit). Everyone at work is praising it. What do you mean by modern music? A lot of what I saw was from 60s,70s, 80s etc
By 'modern music' are you including anything from the last 50 years?
In my opinion, the best was saved for the end - The Who, with Roger Daltrey sounding pretty damn good.

They did ask David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, Kate Bush and the Sex Pistols to appear live but each of those turned them down.

Thanks for your interest. I really must try to get a bit more 'with it' but don't know where I'll start! Interesting that some well known names turned down the opportunity to be part of such a major occasion.
