We all know that web pages such as AnswerBank need a certain amount of advertising to support the continuation of their site, but is it not getting a little out of hand lately?
We are getting them jumping up and down all over the place, so much so that their should be a health warning that some of these can case visual irritation.
What prompted me to ask this question was the fact that today while busy on this site some audio adverts kicked in along with their irritating jingles, and I didn't know how to mute them.
Until such time as Ed says that all flashing and mobile adverts have been removed, I shall continue to use Adblock on both Firefox and Google Chrome.
( IE I avoid because it is very very difficult to set-up for blanking-out adverts.)
I am not proud of the action which I am taking in this matter, because without Adverts AB is a 'goner'.
sorry for delay in answering. I'm afraid the only answer is an ad blocker as has been previously stated, or you could turn your speakers off, if you aren't using them for music etc.
Yes Ed, but inserting them in the body of questions in the form of a Hyperlink, is taking things a bit far, don't you think ? The originator's question in this very thread contains one such hyperlink.
The free version of AVG blocks ads and also has a feature which stops your search history being used by trackers.
I don't get targeted ads, except for the likes of Amazon and Tesco, where I want them to have the information.
Here's a list of the trackers which are currently being blocked by my AVG...

Chuck - It's strange though, that this problem only occurs for me on Answerbank pages. It started to happen about a week ago and the adware concerned appears to be something called 'Text Enhance'
I don't get jumping and flashing adverts, it must be your browser? My adverts are static, and I just ignore 'em. Except for those bogging Owls on the motoring page...
If you can take a screen shot and send that, or even tell me what the ad was for I will be able to help you out. We do not allow noisy or flashing ads as a rule, but sometimes our partners slip one in by mistake.
