I hope you will all be able to answer this 'type' of question.

As you all know I am looking for work and will consider almost anything. I would consider many things but would definitely do typing up manuscripts from home. Can anyone tell me how I can find this type of work (no pun intended) and how much I can charge for this?
I have emailed the Writer's and Artist's Yearbook but they have not replied. Can I write to the publishers directly and where do I find their email addresses?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Most people who want this kind of service probably want it done at a fast turnaround. No point getting loads of work if you then only type five words a minute and can't fulfil it! Also when i asked "can you type" i mean have you ahve any typist training? There are conventions of how you set things out when typing things, and if you don't have any knowledge or experience of that, you are not going to get much work!!!
Sorry, bednobs, did not mean to be so rude; can you forgive me? I have in fact have had typing training and hold many qualifications to prove this (RSA Stage 1 and 2 typing and word processing (Distinction)). I can just about type at about 60wpm but would only be able to do that if the person's handwriting was easy to read.
I would also be able to do audiotyping if the material in question was on tape or dictacting machine.

you cannot just type it up though - you would probably be expected to proof read it too...checking for grammar, wordiness, spelling etc etc, and also know all the relevant proofreading marks etc
for medical and legal transcription you need knowledge of the subjects to be sure you type the right words etc.
i think you would struggle to find a job merely typing.
