We will be travelling from Cheshire to Whiby on Friday (daytime).
Our options are
M62, M1, York bypass
or M62, M1,A1(M) via Thirsk.
The Thirsk route is 17 miles longer, but in previous years there have been long delays on the York Bypass.
Is it still bad?

Are there any events on Friday Aug 17th or Sat Aug 25th that will cause delays on either route?

Traffic around the "Hopgrove" roundabout, where the dual carriageway bypass becomes the single carriageway towards Malton is always bad at the weekend but I don't think it justifies a 17 mile extension to your journey. There have been improvements over the last couple of years.
