I don't know the details of the cover provided on individual policies, but I was delighted with the service I got last year from Direct Travel Insurance. We had an annual,world-wide policy - very reasonably-priced(especially when compared to the one my best pal got from a High Street travel company) and very comprehensive (again, it was far better than the one from the High Street place, my mate and I compared notes when we both had reasons to claim. ) I had to cancel our US holiday at three days notice - and was very pleased and relieved when the claim was settled two weeks after I sent the forms off. Maybe there are comparison websites you could look at too?
the Go Travel Insurance policy is fairly comprehensive and the prices are usually very reasonable.
Check your bank account, lilacben - we get comprehensive travel cover as a freebie with our bank account.
The one offered by the post office is said to be pretty good.

Only if your ailment is on the approved list Boxtops, otherwise you have extra to pay.
Thankfully, dennis, we've never had to put that to the test. They were excellent when my handbag was stolen in Spain a couple of years ago.
I went with John Lewis travel insurance online, very reasonable in comparison, the insurance company is AXA which is apparently very good.
Also get a quote from Columbus Travel Lilacben.Very reasonable.
